While I was taking care of the chopped off tail (see story below), I had to give another shot to it's mother -- won't go into reason. It was a very painful shot for the goat, so I tried to talk my farrier into giving it. She was busy, vet said to tie her horns to a post, straddle her and just do it. (Shot goes in neck area right in front of shoulder.) I had Travis come over to help hold her, tied her to a post and jabbed it in. She jumped, the needle came out and I lost some antibiotic. Had to put the rest in so jabbed ("jabbed" because the needle was a big one since the serum was thick) it in the other side of her neck.
She's now yelling because the jabbing hurts and the serum stings and then I see blood streaming out of both injection sites. Quickly called the vet to see if I had caused her imminent death by getting it in her bloodstream instead of just under the skin, but he said not to worry. We all survived, but don't know who was more upset, the shot receiver or the shot giver. . . I was literally shaking after the ordeal.
