Patch with his horn stuck in a ring on the bucket. This was when I had grass way back in May before record-breaking days and days and days and days of over 100 degrees.
Well, I put off as long as I could the tortuous job of weaning my babies born earlier this year. Excuses included: can't do it by myself, it's too hot, no grass so what will I feed them, I don't want to hear them calling out to each other all night. Yesterday, after buying two very lousy bales of hay for $80 per bale ($35 last year) from a scumbag opportunist, I made my plan and this morning, after tricking some and dragging others by the horns, I managed to get them separated. Went out a while ago and one of the babies had escaped through a space between the fence and another gate (warped earlier in the year by one of my bucks who was trying to butt its way to the girls on the other side--you wouldn't believe how strong those guys are). The challenge this evening is catching Minie (as in EenieMeenie and Mo) and hoping I can find my earplugs for a good night's sleep. |
oh my goodness Aunt Janie...the stories! You know I will need your advice on Washington DC...we are planning a family trip there next spring! The kids could go with their school but I dont like most people (especially on charter bus with a bazillion other kids)and of course they are not going without me...so we are planning out back up plan on our own!
