Pay Back

Mr. Morrow came by this evening to help me make a plan for pasture management after all the rain, unruly cows/bull calves, etc.  We decided to go ahead and see if the two of us could "clamp" the three bull calves while he was here. I'm sure you know what that means -- their mooing will now be a little higher pitched.

It was a real ordeal and my main job, after we got them in the corral and one at a time in the head shut, was to hold the tail up over their back just right.  Amazing, if it is totally centered and pulled up as high as it can go and forward, the bull won't (can't?) kick.  It took all my strength to hold it just so while Mr. M did the dirty work.  Only thing, this trick was mastered on the second calf.

Let me just say that a 700-800 lb. calf does not like anyone messing with his stuff.  I got a one/two kick to the thigh and calf and will probably have a pretty bad bruise, but nothing to worry about.  Think the glass of wine I had with dinner was just the right medicine. . . okay, two glasses . . . but they were small.
