Been a little busy lately. Last weekend banded the little bucklings. Ouch! May have found a home for them when they are weaned. I'm hoping it will work out because it means they will be living weed-eaters. We shall see.
Spent yesterday ear-tagging sheep in the rain. Such fun :( We will be splitting up the herd next weekend and Bandit will be leaving. Yea! No more barking all night at the coyotes. . . just hope the coyotes don't realize that he's gone.
Borrowed a truck and trailer and picked up his replacement, Captain, in Missouri on Friday. (He looks a little funny because he was just shorn.) When I brought him into the yard, something spooked him and he broke away from me. Took me most of the day Saturday to get close enough to him to grab the lead rope. I'm keeping him in the yard for the time being and bringing the goats in during the day to try to "bond" with him and also, hopefully, to calm him down some. Not sure its working. He had been living in a pasture with cows and other llamas and has spent most of his time pacing along the fence next to the steers. He's smaller than Apollo, but still very nice. I'm counting on him guarding the goats and sheep. Just hoping all this works as planned.
It seems like it has been raining just about every day this month. I hated to see the latest addition out in the bad weather (although they said he was used to it), so I decided to build a shelter today. Don't know if he'll use it, but at least now I feel better. (I'll do anything to put off doing housework.)
