Before the last snow.

Last Sunday I decided to forget about chores and my "need to do" list and just hang out for a while in the nice weather, so I went out to the pasture, sat and watched the goats grazing.  After a while they decided it was time to rest and ruminate and came over to where I was sitting.

Normally, they stay in close proximity to family (the two guys at the top are brothers).  Rosie (scratching her back) decided to come lay down next to me . . . awwww . . .

Validation from a goat . . . how pathetic is that!

Snows came and couldn't get into town from Tuesday until Saturday -- hadn't seen another human for four days.  Just tried to keep the animals fed and watered and alive in the extreme weather -- so far so good -- more expected this week.

Saturday I decided to try out my new all-wheel drive and go to the office and do a few chores in town.  Stopped by the Farmer's Coop to order more hay for the goats/donkeys and they said it would probably be the end of this week because of dangerous icy roads.  I'll be out before then so I decided to take a bale with me (after asking the cashier for one of their big garbage bags).  I asked Bobbie if he had put a bale of hay in a garbage bag before, thinking no one else would ask for such a thing, but he assured me this wasn't the first time.

Ran by Ozark Natural Foods to pick up something for lunch and while I was waiting for my sandwich I noticed that, not only were my pants still rolled up over my boots (deep snow going out to the car) revealing my lovely purple socks, but I had hay all over my gloves, jacket and the front of my pullover.   "Country bumpkin". . .  "hayseed" --  I tried to be discrete and brush the hay off but expected any minute to hear "Cleanup HAY in the deli section!"
------
Will be out of hay for the cows by mid to late next week -- hoping I can find someone who will be able to deliver some but I'm a little concerned.  Would have had enough of my own in a milder winter.
