It was a beautiful day today so enjoyed a nice long walk checking fences and communing with nature.
Sub-zero temps are over, at least for now and the freeze-proof livestock watering tank finally unfroze yesterday :) One evening during the cold spell I was horrified to discover that one of the cows, probably weighing 1,000-1,200 lbs., had walked out on the pond about 10 - 15 feet. (They had run out of water before I got home to replenish and I had left the pond gate open, not thinking they would do something like that.) Thank goodness the cow didn't fall through the ice. I talked to someone later who said a farmer he knew lost 8 cows that way -- dodged that bullet.
oh, I dont think I could have handled a drowning story. Cute pictures!!
ReplyDeleteYeah a drowning story woulda put me over the top. Seriously, the cows need some classroom time maybe?
